Callie Takahashi, MD
I was born and raised on the island of Oahu, Hawaii, where my grandparents taught me the meaning of community and care. My parents both worked in hospitals and I remember spending afternoons in the employee break room waiting for my mom to finish work. Hearing stories of how my parents cared for our community inspired me to study medicine. I learned through hospital volunteering that being a clinician allowed me the space to develop scientific medical knowledge and the art of compassion and empathy. I went to college in Oregon and completed medical school in Washington, D.C. I’m thrilled to be back in the Pacific Northwest for family medicine residency training. I chose to join Kaiser Permanente because it’s an organization that believes in high-quality care and is a champion of diversity, equity, and inclusion. I’m grateful for the welcome and support I’ve received, and I’m preparing my heart and mind for growth and feedback as I learn to be a family physician in this highly innovative care program.
