Leadership at Group Health

Group Health Cooperative was founded in 1947 by ordinary people dedicated to creating affordable, quality health care. These pioneers set up a governance structure that includes the Board of Trustees, medical staff, and a management team.

Members continue to govern Group Health today. They elect our Board of Trustees and vote on the bylaws that guide the organization.

Our Board of Trustees hires Group Health's president and chief executive officer (CEO) and votes on policy decisions. In turn, the CEO guides the executive leadership team, which sets long-term strategy, monitors performance, and oversees day-to-day functions.
